Taiwan road trip- taitung

Another backdated post...hayyy..kelan ko kaya matatapos ang pag post tungkol sa road trip namin. Need na bilisan ko na at madami pa akong mga dapat gawin.
Anyway, after our first stop in xiao yehliu we continued our journey to visit another major attraction in taitung.

SANSIANTAI- was our next stop.

Sansiantai is an area containing beach and several islands located on the coast of taitung county. The beach stretches for ten kms in lenght. A popular tourist attraction for it's rocky coastal views. The area very popular for its long footbridge that connects the coast to the largest island.

There are three great stones pala at sansiantai, folk legends claim that three( Lu Tungpin, Ho Hsienku, and Li Tiehkuai) of the eightimmortals of taoism stopped here on their way across the sea. The name sansiantai thus arose ("Sansiantai"- Three Immortals Terrace).

Ghost Festival in Taiwan

The Ghost Festival begins on the first day of the seventh lunar month. Naniniwala ang mga Chinese na there is an
increase in accidents and deaths during this month,an occurrence attributed to spirits visiting the human world.

Kung sa western societies, they try to banish the spirits dito sa Taiwan the first day of the ghost month, "Open Hell" is held, the gates to the underworld are opened and the spirits are allowed to cross over the living world.

At bongga ang treatment nila sa mga spirits ha, VIP,biruin mo ba naman people prepare a big feast to indulge the many roaming ghost. Huge banquet tables are set out in temple courtyards and mountains of fish, vegetables, meat and other delicacies are offered as sacrifice; hanging lanterns are erected to guide the ghosts to the table; non-stop operas entertain during dinner and fake money is burnt so that guests have a bit of pocket-money to spend when they return to hell...sosyal di ba..san ka pa ^__^.

At katulad ng lahat ng paniniwala meron din do's and don'ts katulad ng mga
sumusunod:

DO:
-make offerings, especially the burning of ghost money

DON'T
-weddings, special plans, business deals and outings should be put on hold till the end of the month.
- no whistling, whistling will lead the ghost straight to your home.
-don't go out after midnight
- don't go in the lake, river, or ocean kasi the water ghost can easily steal a living spirit daw
- don't buy a new car
-don't say the word ghost
- don't move in a new house or apartment

Sa start and end of the ghost month halos same lang ang ginagawa. Offerings and burning of ghost money...etc...para may baon naman sila pag-uwi nila sa kanilang paroroonan.
